Depuis la reprise en septembre, j’ai travaillé notamment et en toute liberté avec mes personnages, leur faisant vivre… des histoires d'amour. Cela a mis une belle ambiance dans l'usine.
Since the new season in September, I have been working on my figures very freely, staging them in various scenes… of passion. This has created quite an atmosphere in the factory.

Les femmes de l'atelier finissage venaient voir et repartaient en riant, se tenant par le bras.
Les hommes se gaussaient un peu plus ouvertement, rajoutant des allusions parfois un peu trop explicites. Partout où je passais, entre l'atelier coulage et l'atelier émaillage ou en enfournant les pièces, des sourires complices me suivaient.
Chacune et chacun trouvait un petit moment à la pause, en changement de poste pour passer « par hasard » voir les sculptures dans leur développement et repartait d'humeur joyeuse. Y compris les « personnes des bureaux ».

The women in the finishing workshop would come and look, and leave arm in arm, laughing.
The men would joke about it more openly, with allusions that were sometimes a little too explicit. Everywhere I went, from the pouring workshop to the glazing unit, and whenever I put my pieces in the kiln, I met with knowing smiles.
Everyone would find a moment during a break, or when changing shift, to drop by "casually" to see the sculptures as they went along, and would go off in a cheerful mood.

Et quand j’ai mis en scène deux hommes, cela figea un peu les sourires. Lorsque j'installais un homme manifestement noir enlaçant avec tendresse une petite femme manifestement… blanche, de courtes discussions eurent lieu à propos de cette autre réalité mal connue à Chauvigny.
Ces pièces, je vous les montrerai dès qu’elles seront prêtes. Pour l’instant, je les observe encore…
When I staged two men, that froze the smiles somewhat. When I introduced a man who was obviously black tenderly entwined with a girl who was obviously… white, it engendered a bit of discussion about this other reality, not very common in Chauvigny.
I'll show you these pieces when they're ready. For the moment, I'm still looking at them…
